5 Ways To Spice Up Your Social Media

Social media is still a fairly new channel of communication, but there is so much we can learn about it's capabilities. Popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have provided businesses, organizations and individuals with a large consumer base and the ability to see what the competitors are doing. More and more people are realizing the importance of social networking. Whether you're a digital native or a digital immigrant, this post can help you to spice up your social media marketing efforts.

1. PERFECT YOUR MARKETING RECIPE
Before you dive in to social media usage, you need to decide exactly what purpose you are using social media for. Are you trying to promote a product? Are you trying to educate a large audience? Are you trying to keep the buzz alive about your business? Once you decide what the reason is then you can create your social media marketing strategy. Everything that you post and every consumer interaction will tie in with that overarching reason.

2. ADD A PINCH OF CONSISTENCY
Once you have perfected your social media marketing strategy, you need to establish consistency across social media platforms. Each platform should have the same voice. When a user goes to your social media page there should be no doubt about whether or not the page is official or associated with your business or organization.

3. MIX IN CREATIVE CONTENT
You need to be creative to be engaging and get the attention of your target audiences. Having a social media page requires a constant supply of creative ideas for content, channels and products. It’s based on having a keen insight and understanding about what your consumers really want and need.

4. ADD A SPOONFUL OF INTERACTIVITY
The vast majority of people who use social media do so to connect with other people. Imagine how useless it would be to create a profile on Twitter, for example, and not have any followers or people you are following. The same applies for a business or organization. The people that 'Like' your page want to hear from you. Be sure to reply to every comment you receive, thank people for sharing or retweeting and give shout-outs to loyal followers. Small actions like these will build brand loyalty and trust, as well as open communication lines.

5. GARNISH WITH PERSONALITY
Brand storytelling is an effective way to connect with an audience. It's what helps a brand appeal to consumers and distinguishes one brand from another. Don't be afraid to have real conversations with other social media users. You wouldn't want your responses to seem robotic or scripted.

Social media is increasingly becoming the cornerstone of marketing efforts. In order to do things right, you need to spice them up!
